Rev. Dr. David R. Jarrett, Sr.

Pastor of Bethel AME Church

 

The Rev. Dr. David R. Jarrett, Sr., is a native of Galesburg, Illinois, and has served as the pastor of the Historic Bethel A.M.E. Church of Detroit since 2011. He and his beautiful wife, First Lady Valerie, have been married for thirty-nine years. They are the parents of four children and the grandparents of six.

 

Rev. Jarrett is a graduate of Black Hawk College, Illinois State University and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He has an extensive ministerial background and is the recipient of numerous human service awards.

 

Rev. Jarrett is a spirited visionary, a humble man and full of compassion. He is not ashamed to show his vulnerability and imperfections as he strives in God’s grace for perfection. He does not pretend to know everything, but has the desire to learn all things. He has the fear of a normal man, but the assurance that God will maintain his focus and sustain his every move.

 

Rev Jarrett’s vision is to restore Bethel to the prominence she once claimed. He wants Bethel to be the bearer of cooperative service, making sure all are aware of the issues of Detroit, aware of what is going on in the city, in schools and using people within Bethel as connection points.
